Internship Approval Guidelines

  

In order to register for an internship (BSH 5800) you MUST meet with an advisor and have an Internship Prospectus approved.

You MUST meet with the advisor BEFORE turning in a prospectus.

Your prospectus must include the following information:

1. Your name, student number, email, & phone

2. Place of proposed internship
* Name and address of institution
* Name of specific department (if applicable)
* Name of position (if there is a title for what you will be doing, other than "intern" please indicate so.)
* Name of Internship Supervisor, title, and contact information (email and phone if possible)
* Credit hours requested (up to 3) and hours of work per week at internship.

3. Describe the proposed internship, including the following:
* What is the main goal for you in the proposed internship?
* What is the relevance of the proposed internship to your career goals?
* What is the educational value of the proposed internship, i.e., how do you think it will reinforce
your classroom learning and what do you hope to learn that you haven't in the classroom?
* Do you have any previous experience in this area? Is this an add-on to duties you already perform in a paid job? If so, how is this internship different than and in addition to them?

4. Signature (dated) of internship supervisor indicating they are willing to supervise your internship.
